Proteins are essential for muscle growth and repair – they are the building blocks of life. Every cell in the human body contains protein, including skin, muscles, organs and glands. Protein is particularly important for those going through bodily changes such as children, adolescents and those who lead a physically demanding life.

Most protein in the human diet comes from animal sources such as meat, fish, dairy and eggs. It is also found in nuts, legumes and some grains. Getting enough healthy protein can be challenging, particularly if you eat a restricted diet or regularly work your body to its limits.

Hemp protein powder is high in protein but unlike many protein sources it is easily digestible due to the lack of trypsin inhibitors. Hemp is a vegetarian source of essential fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fibre, chlorophyll and a complete, balanced gluten-free source of all eight essential amino acids.

Beetroot contains potassium, magnesium and iron as well as vitamins A, B6 and C, and folic acid. It also contains carbohydrates, protein, powerful antioxidants and soluble fibre.

Research has shown that beetroot can help reduce blood pressure as well as its associated risks such as heart attacks and strokes. This is because the high content of nitrates in beetroot produce a gas called nitric oxide in the blood which widens blood vessels and lowers blood pressure.

Maca powder is thought to have a beneficial affect on energy levels and vitality as well as a balancing effect on the hormonal system. Maca contains 8 essential amino acids and is abundant in essential fatty acids. It also contains: Vitamins B1, B2, C and E, calcium, magnesium, iron and potassium.

Lacuma is a Peruvian fruit, rich in antioxidants, B vitamins and protein – it has a sweet mapley flavour and is thought to curb cravings lower blood pressure and boost fertility. The powder is a natural sweetener but unlike sucrose it doesn’t spike the blood sugar so is entirely safe for diabetics and those on a low glycaemic diet.

Famed in its native country as a holistic antibiotic many people also believe it has cancer-fighting properties.

Goji berries originated in China but are now grown in suitable climates around the world – we’ve sourced ours from a Peruvian organic powder supplier. In their native country Gojis are regularly used to aid life expectancy and promote optimum health. The Goji is extremely rich in vitamin A and is bursting with antioxidants. Regular consumption is thought to boost the immune system, improve brain function and protect the heart.

Research shows that Goji berry consumption offers a number of health benefits ranging from mental wellbeing to athletic performance and improved sleep quality.

A medical study in 2008 found that drinking the juice every day for 14 days improved brain activity, digestion and gave an increased sense of wellbeing. A further study conducted by Chinese medical team, in 1994, concluded that goji berries aid the regression of cancer when used with immunotherapy.
